Some of our Artists ProfilesDeb Hoare is a local Wellington artist who lives in Eastbourne. She trained originally as a draughtswoman which has influenced her 'contemporary realism' painting style. The demand for her dramatic and detailed landscapes is increasing every year and her work is in private collections throughout New Zealand, Australia, U.K., Canada and the U.S.A. Laura Muir is a well-known and highly respected New Zealand artist who has experimented successfully in many mediums including embroidery and fabric collage as well as oils, acrylic, pastel and paper collage. Her work has been showcased for many years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington and she has exhibited in solo Exhibitions throughout New Zealand. Laura is currently in Canada exploring new subject matter and art forms. Vincent Duncan is a Wellington-based artist who is a member of the Wellington Academy of Fine Arts and exhibits regularly in their group exhibitions. Working in oils and acrylics, his paintings are rich in texture and he uses a vibrant palette to produce both figurative and abstract work which reflect his passion for his subject matter. His work is in both private and corporate collections throughout New Zealand, Australia, USA and the UK. Brian Badcock works from his studio in Blenheim, and is a respected oil painter and tutor from a well-known New Zealand family of artists. He has travelled widely and this is reflected in his exotic paintings of Asian and Indian subjects. Brian also captures the essence of his own beautiful Marlborough vineyards, seascapes and boating scenes. Craig Fletcher creates his ceramic masterpieces in Auckland. His technique of handpainting, sculpting and firing his work to achieve a two-dimensional effect is truely unique. Craig also incorporates gold leaf in many of his works, produces silver and bronze jewellery and a range of beautiful gift cards. Gaeleen Morley has worked in clay for over 30 years. Having begun her career making domestic ware, she now builds her pieces by hand and uses exquisite glazes and raku firing sometimes firing pieces up to 6 times to achieve a rich glossy effect. A multiple award winner, her work is displayed in Japan, Australia, U.K. and the USA. Lynne Crooks lives in the Eastbourne Bays and paints watercolour artworks of local seascapes and landscapes, capturing the ever-changing panoramas of this unique part of Wellington.She has exhibited at the Academy of Fine Arts and the Millwood Gallery in Wellington. Jenny Jordan is a Wellington artist working mainly in acrylics and creating abstract landscapes using a soft, atmospheric palette with a rich variety of texture and design. She has a range of cards and handmade books and has exhibited at the Affordable Arts exhibition, Roar Gallery and Van Helden Gallery in Wellington. Lori Davis has had her studio/gallery in Nelson for many years and is an internationally known artist. She uses heavy grade watercolour paper to produce glowing, detailed panoramas and still lifes in gouche and watercolour. Her giclee prints (25 only of each original) are numbered and signed. Lori's public and private commissioned works are in NZ, Australia, U.S.A. and the U.K. Don Wilson has been a professional artist, and musician based in the Wellington region of New Zealand for over twenty years. Don’s reputation as an artist is steadily growing and he presently divides his time between painting, sculpture, and music. Since 1987 he has lived with his family on the Kapiti Coast, a place that he finds a rich source of inspiration; “I find Wellington a visually stunning area, geographically diverse and with constantly changing moods, that make it an exciting place to be a painter”. Tina Drayton, a self taught artist, grew up in Rangataua on the family farm under Mt Ruapehu, New Zealand. After traveling throughout the world, Tina now has her studio in Wanganui. Her work reflects her colourful and fun outlook on life. Jane Santos has been a mosaic artist for the past 10 years in England, working part time on her art whilst pursuing a career in teaching. In 2002 she relocated to New Zealand to join her family with the determination to pursue mosaics full time. Jane lives in Waikanae and works with a variety of tiles; vitreous and plain glass, porcelain, glazed and unglazed ceramics sourced from all over the world. She is currently working on a series of mosaic panels of Wellington houses, several of which are commissioned pieces. Lindsay Jefferis is a Marlborough artist, from a rural background which is strongly evident in his work. He uses composition, lighting, and a realist style to bring depth and mood to his paintings.
